World Pilot Gig Championships
The World Pilot Gig Championships (WPGC for short) take place during the May Day bank holiday weekend on the Isles of Scilly. Since 1990, the event has been increasing in size annually.

The championships take place over the May Day bank holiday weekend, which ends on the first Monday in May.
2005: 30 April - 1 May
2006: 29-30 April
2007: 5-6 May
2008: 3-4 May
Schedule of the weekend
FRIDAY
* Veterans’ races: mens’, ladies’ and mixed.
SATURDAY
Ladies’ heats are followed by mens’ heats, usually an hour later.
* Heat 1: St Agnes Race
* Heat 2: Nut Rock Race
SUNDAY
* Heat 3: Nut Rock
* Final: Nut Rock
There is usually a barbeque and festivities in the evening.
MONDAY (Bank Holiday)
* Rugby match between winning teams of the current and previous year.
* Gig Sailing Race
