Andrew Nancarrow was the founder member of the Truro River Rowing Club. The ''Circe'' was built at Mabe and takes her name from a previous gig, built by Peters of St Mawes, who also made most of the current Scillonian gigs. In October 2004, Truro River Rowing Club bought a new gig, which they named ''Richard Lander'' after "Truro''s famous son".Gigs
